Families can be
Healthier Ever After
Main Library
Activity Center through May 31
The Healthier Ever After traveling exhibit from the
Children's Museum of Cleveland is making a month-long stop at the
Main Library. Children can overcome obstacles to fitness and
healthy nutrition as they:
· Exercise by exploring a 10-foot high castle.
· Learn about fruits and vegetables as they
travel through the Goodness Grove, a
make-believe orchard.
· Dance, jump and skip to high-energy tunes
in the Move & Groove Meadow.
· Test their strength and endurance at the
Pedal Pond.
These and other playful features of the exhibit are designed to
help promote lifelong wellness. Take this "once upon a
time" adventure and live healthier ever after.
The Healthier Ever After exhibit is made possible
through a generous donation from the Friends of the West
Bloomfield Township Public Library.

Food Fun
Kids love food that comes in fun shapes or is
"dressed up." Try these mouth-watering ways to make
food fun.
Personalized Pancakes.
Prepare your favorite pancake batter and heat the pan you use for
pancakes. Pour batter into a turkey baster, and use it to make
the initials of your child's name. Serve with fresh fruit, yogurt
or other healthy toppings.
Tasty Toast
Flatten several slices of bread with a rolling pin or your hands.
Butter both sides of each slice, and press the bread into the
sections of a muffin pan to form cup shapes. Bake at 350 degrees
for 10 - 12 minutes or until toasted. Cool and fill with a little
cream cheese and some fresh Michigan strawberries, cheese slices
layered with chicken or turkey, or peanut butter and slices of
banana topped with jam and raisons.
Eat-your-word menus
Try this idea from PBS Parents: "Look to
your child's favorite books to inspire new menus. Otherwise picky
fans of Dr. Seuss may devour a meal of green eggs (scrambled eggs
mixed with spinach) and ham." Other books to inspire menus
include Cloudy with a Chance of
Meatballs by Judi Barrett, I will never not ever eat
a tomato by Lauren Child and Night of the Veggie
Monster by George McClements.
