Explore your community, expand your interests and discover new pursuits at your Library!

Join in the summer reading fun at the Library by completing 12 hours of reading. After you have completed 12 hours of reading you will receive an online badge that earns points for the Summer Challenge and is redeemable for one book at the Summer’s End Book Fair. Online badges open on Saturday, June 20 at 9 AM. Badges close at midnight on Friday, September 4, 2015.

Continue to read another 12 hours or complete 100 points in the Summer Challenge to earn a second book from the Book Fair. Make sure to stop by the Youth Services Information Desk to receive your keepsake Brag Tags. Earn three unique Brag Tags when you 1) register for summer reading; 2) read 12 hours; and 3) complete 100 points in the Summer Challenge or read an additional 12 hours.

Come to the Summer’s End Book Fair located in the Youth Activity Center and by the Adult Information Desk at the Main Library from Wednesday, August 26 to Friday, September 4, 2015 during regular Library hours to get your book(s). The Summer’s End Book Fair is open only to Summer Reading participants redeeming badges earned during Summer Reading.
The Summer Challenge
Take up the Summer Challenge and extend your summer reading fun with interactive learning challenges. Choose from dozens of exciting challenges throughout the summer and earn a special online badge for each activity you complete. Upon completion of each activity, redeem your code to release your online badge.

NEW! Participants will compete against others based on the following groups: grades K-1, grades 2-3, grades 4-5, middle school and high school. Participants will receive one virtual raffle ticket for every 100 points completed in the Summer Challenge. The more points completed and the more raffle tickets earned, the greater the odds at winning fabulous prizes!

Grades K-1: 1 Kindle Fire Kids Edition; 1 iPod Touch; 3 Cheerson CX-10 Mini Quadcopter
Grades 2-3: 1 Galaxy Tab 4; 1 iPod Touch; 3 Cheerson CX-10 Mini Quadcopter
Grades 4-5: 1 Galaxy Tab 4; 1 iPod Touch; 3 Cheerson CX-10 Mini Quadcopter
Grades 6-8: 1 iPad Mini; 1 iPod Touch; 3 Cheerson CX-10 Mini Quadcopter

What is fair play?
Removing or tampering with badges around the library, providing codes to other participants, recording hours not actually read, using projects not completed after Summer Reading Kickoff to fulfill badge requirements, and any other behavior deemed inappropriate by library staff will result in immediate disqualification. Summer Reading participants may sign up for only one Summer Reading Account. Summer Reading Accounts cannot be combined in any way. All Summer Reading challenges must be completed on or after June 20, 2015.
How to Register for Summer Reading & the Summer Challenge
Summer Reading runs from June 13 to September 4, 2015. Join anytime throughout the summer. Registration will begin May 15 at the Main Library or Westacres Branch or through online registration.

Registration is open to: Create a unique username and password and complete the online registration. Each individual may register only one time.

Complete 12 hours of reading to earn your first badge, which will be available online beginning Saturday, June 20. Upon completion of the reading requirement, you will be ready to take on other challenges, which will all be available beginning June 20.
How to Choose Challenges
Log in to the system and visit the "Summer Challenge" page to browse through the challenges.

Choose your first challenge—pick anything that interests you. Read what you’re challenged to do, complete the activity, claim your badge and start earning virtual raffle tickets. Keep going to have more fun and earn more badges.

How to Claim Badges
After completing a badge challenge, login to your individual account and redeem your claim code. Once you have the claim code, login to the summer reading website, click “Redeem” enter the given code and claim your points.
How to Keep Track of Badges Completed and Points Earned
When you register, you create your personal virtual Summer Challenge backpack. Badges appear in your backpack as you complete and claim them. See every badge as it is claimed, along with a tally of your points.
Challenge Bonus: Scavenger Hunt Badges
You never know where or when a hidden code might pop up. Keep your eyes and ears open throughout the summer to find hidden codes and earn more points. Earn a virtual raffle ticket for every 100 points completed.
