The curious incident of the dog in the night-time

Mark Haddon
Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057. He relates well to animals but has no understanding of human emotions. He cannot stand to be touched. And he detests the color yellow.
Christopher is on a mission, a mission to become a successful detective, among the likes of the famous Sherlock Holmes. When a neighbor's dog is killed, Christopher sets out to discover who could have committed such a crime. There is one slight problem, however, that might hinder his investigation. While in many ways he is a genius, especially when it comes to math, Christopher is autistic and has a lot of difficulty communicating with others. Despite this limitation, and his father's urging to keep to himself, Christopher sets off to uncover the mystery of the death of the neighbor's dog. What he doesn't know, however, is that while doing so, he'll discover a great many mysteries within his own family.
