Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't.
Lena lives in Portland, Maine, in a future where everyone gets a surgical procedure to "cure" them of a deadly disease; LOVE! Lena cannot wait to turn 18, the minimum age for the procedure, because she is terrified of catching the horrible infection. But life gets turned upside down when she meets a young man... If you are a fan of dystopian future novels, such as Matched, Across the Universe, and The Hunger Games, then this is a great book for you! However, you don't need to be a fan of science fiction to love this book because so much about Lena's life could take place today. She goes to school, has a part-time job, and has a bff.
