Teen beauty queens. A Lost-like island. Mysteries and dangers. No access to emall. And the spirit of fierce, feral competition that lives underground in girls, a savage brutality that can only be revealed by a journey into the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Oh, the horror, the horror! Only funnier. With evening gowns. And a body count.
If you are a fan of satire and sarcastic humor, this is the book for you! Libba Bray is at her best with "Beauty Queens." This book is an amazing take on a "Lord of the Flies" type tale--except with teen Beauty Queens, sequins, and lots of explosions! These girls come into their own on a seemingly deserted island, proving to themselves that they are good enough just the way they are (but that if they want some sparkly heels, that is good too!). This book has commercial breaks and will keep you laughing through each page turn. Highly recommended!
